Last week in Te Ngahere we did some coding with Mr Lindsay. He was teaching us how to draw all different shapes, like the rhombus, parallelogram and cubes. We learnt to make shapes using degrees to construct our shape. We also used a coding site to construct our designs. At times I found it hard to figure out all the numbers for the degrees and pixels. It was fun to have a play around with the numbers, angles, pixels and degrees to make design shapes. I could work on using more actions to code more complex shapes.

Last Wednesday, at Paihia School, our awesome parents and PTA heald a glow in the dark disco. Our school was excited to have an disco. The theme was black and white with an awesome vibrant glow in the dark paint. The vibrant paint glowed under the bright black led light. Mmmm, yum nachos and Hot dogs where freshly made waiting for people to buy. All my friends were there dancing having a brilliant time listening to the cool music. Our disco started at 6.15pm. I hanged out with a group of friends from my classroom. I really enjoyed hanging out with my friends, eating the yum food and listening to great music.

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about STEAM. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and maths. Our STEAM activity was a marble run. My partners are Missy and Emma. The challenge was to create a ramp that rolls 110cm away from the ramp. The activity challenged us to find different variables. A variable is when you adjust, change your experiments. This activity is a fun enjoyable task, I loved how we get to change the angles of the ramp. What I could do better is help my partners more as a team.

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about these four explores, Kupe, Nukutawhiti, Abel Tasman and James Cook. We learnt about how they got to Aotearoa. We did a DLO about Kupe and we had to answer three questions. How they got here? What the impact did they leave behind? Why did they come to New Zealand? What I enjoyed was, that I could find information really easy and learn about people I didn’t even know about. Our group did well finding information about Kupe. I think I could of collaborated with my group better and work as a team.

Check Out My Plastic Writing It Will Give Some Cool Ideas...
Wednesday 18 October
WALT: Use the correct structure in a persuasive text.
Ellipsis, Question marks
Should We Have Plastic Bags In Supermarkets?
In my opinion both of plastic bags and paper bags are a disgraceful waste because it's a waste of money and of course you think that plastic bags are wonderful. Already Countdown and New World is already charging for plastic bags.
Firstly, the Animals can get killed easily because they think that plastic bags are food like jellyfish but they're not and the plastic bags can strangle animals to death. We need to keep our country's plastic bag free. What do you guys think about plastic bags?
Secondly, the Plastic can pollute the ocean and when people want to go and get some fresh water from the ocean, kinda can’t because the ocean is filled with all sorts of thing. That’s why we need to stop this. Do you think we should take away plastic bags? Well, I think we should...
Thirdly, Burning plastic is bad for the ozone layer. It can also cause cancer and raise water level. It can harm birds by the birds eating plastic bags, also because every single day sea creatures die because they eat plastic bags…
Lastly, Imagine you eat a plastic bag how would you feel? Well first you would not be able to breathe, the plastic bag will get stuck in your lungs and you can’t get it out then you will die.
The End!
In the beginning of term 4 in Te Ngahere we did some persuasive writing about should we have plastic bags in supermarkets. Our WALT: was use the correct persuasive structure in our writing. The things that I think I done well was using the correct structure in persuasive, Ellipsis, Question marks. The things that I needed to work on was trying to make my writing make sense.
