Bay Of Island Collage

Last week some of us year 8 went to Bay Of Island College for
Orientation day.  An Orientation day is when you go to another
high school or college to see a day in the life of being in college and
interacting with college students. There were two other schools
there which was, Morewa and Keratu. We got to split into two
different groups with Morewa and Keratu. We had to do five
different subjects throughout the day. My group did, Maori activities,
visual arts, science, food tech and back to the Marae to play some
games. My Favourite subjects were visual arts and the game at the
end of the day. I am planning to go to mainstream even though Ru
reo looked very interesting I think that Mainstream will be the right
choice for me.

Cross Countery

In Te Ngahere we have cross country coming up.
We have been practicing our running to keep our fitness up.
We had to run 5 times around the pump track,
5 times around the field and 5 times around the court.
We had to get timed for our running and my times kept on going up
and down. We had to make a graph and put our results into seconds.
After we put it in seconds we had to make a line graph.
We used a line graph because pie graphs are harder to understand
then line graph.  We had to name the Y and X axis
so people understand what the lines and numbers mean.

Science Fair

This year in Te Ngahere we have been learning about the scientific
method. We had to come up with an awesome idea for us to
experiment. For the science fair, me and my buddy Anyah were
doing a experiment called, Warm Vs Cold. Does warm cheese rot
faster than cold cheese? We did this experiment because it is  a real
life problem. Also because my buddy's brother leaves the cheese
out of the fridge for an 1 hour because he likes it warm but my buddy
doesn’t like warm cheese is good for you. Instead of using containers
we used petri trays to grow the bacteria for us, so we don’t have to
wait for a long time for the cheese to rot.  We are really proud of
what our results were.

Cross country training (2 laps)

In Te Ngahere we have been doing Cross Country training.
We have been running 2 laps of our field, pump track and court.
We were trying to decrease the amount of time it took us to finish
the course, also keeping our fitness up. I am very proud of myself
because I have decrease my time by a lot of seconds. I’m not fast
at running but I know that I try my best and push myself to the finish
line. To get our blood pumping we have been doing some warm up
and warm downs after training. Next time I gonna try get a few
seconds off my time.
