Should We Have Plastic Bags In Supermarkets?

In my opinion both of plastic bags and paper bags  are a disgraceful waste because it's a waste of money and of course you think that plastic bags are wonderful. Already Countdown and New World is already charging for plastic bags.

Firstly, the Animals can get killed easily because they think that plastic bags are food like jellyfish but they're not and the plastic bags can strangle animals to death. We need to keep our country's plastic bag free. What do you guys think about plastic bags?

Secondly, the Plastic can pollute the ocean and when people want to go and get some  fresh water from the ocean,  kinda can’t because the ocean is filled with all sorts of thing. That’s why we need to stop this. Do you think  we should take away plastic bags? Well, I think we should...

Thirdly, Burning plastic is bad for the ozone layer. It can also cause cancer and raise water level. It can harm birds by the birds eating plastic bags, also because every single day sea creatures die because they eat plastic bags…

Lastly, Imagine you eat a plastic bag how would you feel? Well first you would not be able to breathe, the plastic bag will get stuck in your lungs and you can’t get it out then you will die.

In the beginning of term 4  in Te Ngahere we did some persuasive writing about should we have plastic bags in supermarkets. Our WALT: was use the correct persuasive structure in our writing. The things that I think I done well was using the correct structure in persuasive, Ellipsis, Question marks. The things that I needed to work on was trying to make my writing make sense.

During the week we have been learning to understand our morning mihi. The reason why I chose these  images is because it reflects on what the English part of the mihi means. The reason on why I chose these images is because they remind me about what's coming next. The pictures remind me of what it says in the mihi. Our WALT was WALT: Understand the mihi. Last week in Te Ngahere, we created a google drawing of our Writing Goals. Our WALT was to Identify our next learning goals in writing. The reason why I choose these goals is because I didn't really know what they meant also What I want to achieve is R5 and move to R6 in writing.

Last week in Te Ngahere we made our maths goals google drawing. We had to pick three goals that we wanted to learn. My maths goals are Read and order any number up to 100,000, Reversibility 403-97 97 + ?403 and standard written form for subtraction. I selected them on the ICAN sheet stage 6. I chose these goals because I don’t know what they mean.

Last week in Te Ngahere we watched a webinar about William Pike. Then we have to make a google drawing about him. We learnt a lot about him. He learnt lots about climbing up Mt Ruapehu.

Last week in my reading group we read a story called Give Me Your Lunch. It is all about these three little girls that are bullies and their names are Nina,Bettina and Kartina and they be mean to another girl and her name was Moona, but the girl who was getting bullied didn't even care.

For a week or so In Te Ngahere we have been doing four shot movie. We were in groups my group was Ngahuia, Sharnee, Cilla and I. (WALT: Understand the vocabulary of filmmaking). Our for shot movie is about Kapa Haka.

For the last two weeks in Te Ngahere we have been writing informational reports. WALT: Write an informational report. Our first report was about a country, my country was Canada. In my writing i was focusing on topic sentence and semi colons.

Last week in Te Ngahere WALT: Use Proper nouns and Common nouns, so we could use them in our informational report. We had to pair up in pairs and make a google drawing and insert a table. In that table we had to show Common nouns.

Last week in Te Ngahere we had to chose three maths goals,  we had to add them to our term 3 learning goals, on a google drawing.The teachers gave Te Ngahere their IKAN sheets so we can pick our 3 maths goals , and put them on our google drawing. When we finished our google drawing we had to highlight it red, if we got feedback from the  teacher the teacher highlights it orange. If we acted on the feedback the the student highlights it yellow, if the teacher thinks there is no mistakes that mean it's green. (WALT: Identify what we have achieved in maths and our next.)

Last Term Te Ngahere and Te Maunga were doing Koru and Kowhaiwhai patterns. We were learning the meaning of Koru and Kowhaiwhai patterns. First we had to draw in cayron, we had to draw koru drawings. Then we got handed a a3 paper and drew Koru and Kowhaiwhai patterns inside the lines.. Next  thing we had to draw lightly with a pencil and draw Koru and Kowhaiwhai patterns. Then we had these nice paints call metallic paints. After our drawing  we trace over it with a sharpie.

On Wednesday Te Ngahere had Student Led Conferences. We had make a google drawing of our learning  this term. We had to share our google drawing to our parents and show  how we love the  environment we are in. My mum and I were so happy because it was a Student Led Conference instead of Teacher Led Conference.Mum was happy because she loved how it was set out.

Matariki Celebration Whanau Day...

Last Thursday, we had Matariki celebration at Paihia School. Everyone's whanau came along. Also my family and I had to wake up at 5:00pm I was tired but we got up to see the stars and eat some yummy breakfast. We had a fun day we played Maori games, Whanau shared lunch and delicious waffles, pancakes and donuts.

Waitangi Treaty Ground Mataiki Celebration...

 Last week on Tuesday Paihia School took a trip to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds for Matariki Celebration. We were learning about Matariki we were planting trees and getting to know a lot more about plants. We played  fun activities. The games were Maui is (right Matau (Left) and Ki Waenganui (Middle).It was called  Manu Aute (which is kite  making) and my partner was Sam.

A few weeks ago Te Ngahere and Te Maunga made Fidget spinner art. We were learning to use space, crayon and dye. The teacher gave use an A3 paper to draw our Fidget spinner. We had to draw with pencil, then crayon, then we dyed our fidget spinners. There were different kinds of fidget spinners, there were batman ones, normal ones and more.

Few weeks ago on Friday in Te Ngahere we got to make ice cream if we got 100% on our learning plans. We had to make a google slide and a recount about ice cream. We had to answer questions on the google slide. We also wrote a recount on how we made ice cream, we had to tell what we learned and what our goals in our writing were.  My goals were, to learn how to use Metaphors, similes and Parentheses in our writing.

Last week Sam and I were put in groups and we had to make a slideshow about general knowledge. We had to follow our Success Criteria to make our work amazing. I enjoyed getting to work with Sam because I have only worked with Sam a couple of times.  

Surf Life Saving...

Not last week the week after we had Surf Life Saving with some special people, there names where Sam, Liam and Toobs. Surf Lifeguards. They were  teaching use how to be safe in the water. What we did. We played water game activities, playing in the water and just having fun.

Last week on Friday we had a Paihia School Tryathlon. We had to swim, bike and run. We had to walk down to the beach and swim.The boys went first then the girls. After our swim we had to run back school and get our bikes if we brought one, and ride around the field. At the end we got a chocolate protein bar. IT WAS THE BEST DAY EVER

I Remember...

Jumping on a rocking boat.

Being attached to a tight rope of elastic.

It took off in the air like a flying albatross.

Gazing above the air looking at the shiny glossy sea.

The hot sticky sweat sticking on my hot clothes.

Pulled down from a long strip of string.

Dragged down in the freezing ice cold water from a thick string of rope.

lifted back up and pulled back down on the rocking  boat.

That was summer

I was Learning to notice but use the structure used in the exemplar in my piece of  writing. I write about my summer writing.

After writing something that was is happening
